She avoided her friend’s proposed set-up like a linebacker: Autumn played defense.
For months, she searched for her own date, finally eying a young man who was chatting with the would-be matchmaker. “As she made her way over to me, I asked her who the cute boy was,” Autumn said. “She said, ‘That’s the guy I’ve been trying to set you up with!’ I quickly changed my mind after that.”
Autumn and Adam wed nearly six years later, and celebrated the very next day with an after-wedding session by photographer Tara Welch.
“Having a day-after session allowed us to be uninhibited with our shoot,” Autumn said. “We didn’t have to worry about the stress that comes along with planning a big event, because the big event was already over. We were relaxed and ready to have fun.”
The couple, both artists, reused their do-it-yourself reception décor, including miniature sculptures Adam made especially for the affair. “One portrays an artist painting a vision of his love, in which all he sees is love,” Autumn said. “And another, an airplane, with a banner that combined our two last names, just to be silly.”
Autumn said, “The session was more like a play date than a photo shoot. It was also the first time we got to relax together after all of the craziness of the wedding.”
