Unique DIY wedding by Troy Grover Photographers

Their goal, Julie said, was to take the glam up the gutter—The Gutter, of course, being the name of this couple’s Brooklyn reception venue.

“The Gutter has an old school bar vibe,” Julie said, “but I thought it would be cool to spruce up the joint and cover it with flowers and candles. Above all else, we wanted to make sure that the wedding was fun, so all the planning revolved around that one goal.”

Julie and Edward—a pair of New York City singers—sidestepped some traditions in order to liven up their party, including hosting bowling games as part of their reception. “My favorite part in planning the wedding was making all the crafts,” Julie said. “Everything from the bowling socks to the homemade bottled pink-love-vodka-lemonade was so much fun to make!”

The couple also made their own programs, designed their guest book and crafted every flower arrangement. “Everything fell into place,” Julie said.

Wow, I love this wedding. So so fun. The reception with exposed brick wall is to die for!

Such a beautiful wedding! I love the bright white venue, and the pretty mix of spring bridesmaid dresses.
