The Story: Amanda and Roy’s vineyard wedding

As Amanda and Roy approached Windlesham Field of Remembrance, Roy reminisced about his childhood in England—how he played inside the park with his parents, and how he and Amanda would one day bring their children here, too. Amanda joked that they’d have to get married first—and to her great surprise, Roy removed a black ring box from his pocket. “Would this help?” Roy asked. When Amanda recovered from her shock, she said, “yes.”

A new ‘do, and an advertising sale

Pretty Little Weddings got a makeover, and with our pretty new ‘do comes a new focus and new features. We’re sticking to what we’re good at—detailing distinctive affairs—by committing our coverage almost exclusively to weddings, engagement sessions and inspiration shoots. And with this new focus comes our biggest new feature—featured weddings.

Featured weddings are extra-special events we’ll showcase over a week-long series of five posts. The series—comprised of posts that begin with the couple’s story, move to their ceremony, reception and details, and end with advice or a special get-the-look guide—will begin every Monday and end Friday. You’ll find our archived featured weddings grouped together under our featured weddings category.

And to celebrate all our exciting changes, Pretty Little Weddings is offering an ad sale. Advertise with us by Nov. 15 and you’ll receive 20 percent off the advertising package of your choice. Farm engagement session by J. Grace Photography

Laura wanted Rob engaged in their engagement session with J. Grace Photography—so when it came time to choose the location, “I knew to get him excited about the session I needed to involve horses and the outdoors, which we both happen to love,” Laura said. And Moserwood Horse Farm in Prospect, Kentucky, just happened to have both.

“The farm was absolutely gorgeous,” Laura said. “Our engagement session was completely relaxing and fun, and we really wanted to keep it causal. Our wedding theme was very rustic and so, I wanted to keep our engagement session the same way.”

Literature inspired wedding by Connie Lyu Photography

Lauren and Colin wanted a wedding that was “relaxed and intimate and natural,” Lauren said. And so, they chucked tradition—there was no cake cutting or bouquet toss for this couple—and crafted an afternoon that centered around their family and friends and a mutual love of literature.

“We had recently purchased about 20 old hardcover books from the Salvation Army for a project and we decided to use them in our wedding,” Lauren said. Guests signed the back of old Penguin Group postcards, and were given homemade bookmarks as favors. A catalog card box held seat assignments, and tables were stacked with books.

“We just kept adding small elements and everything just came together so well,” Lauren said. “We were surprised when we walked around the reception on the day of our wedding—even though we had planned out all of the details ourselves.”

She said, “Don’t feel like you need to include things in your wedding just because it is traditional. We didn’t cut a cake, throw a bouquet or garter, or do a traditional ‘hello’ to all of the tables. But it gave us so much more time to spend with our friends and family and even with each other.”
