Haley and Brandon traded one hot day taking photos—the day Brandon knelt down on a Puerto Rican beach and proposed as Haley fiddled with her camera—for another during their engagement session with The Long Farewell. “It was extremely, hopelessly hot that day,” Haley said. “Atlanta hot. The way it gets in the dead of August, when there is no breeze. But you would never know it from the stupid grins on our faces.”
The pair were novice photo-takers before the session, Haley said—“Neither of us had taken professional photos before, so we were nervous and awkward, and nervous about
looking awkward,” she said—but the Atlanta-based photographers put their mind to ease.
Haley wore the same red dress she donned when Brandon proposed, she said, and a second, more-feminine number. “I switched into the pink dress because I think it’s girly and romantic,” Haley said. “Brandon can tell you, there’s a part of me that thinks life should be a fairytale. With him, I feel like I’ve found both my happily ever after and a new adventure, all at the same time!”

October 10, 2011 at 11:22 amI’ve been following the Long Farewell for awhile now and I’ve consistently been impressed by their treatment of light and perspective and how it seems they use both to symbolically comment on the content of their photos. Like the photo of Haley and Brandon walking along the bridge, with Haley looking back: beautiful.

October 10, 2011 at 12:56 pmWow!!! Impressive! I second Aaron! Light and perspective indeed! Thanks for featuring such great photography! In addition, I love the way The Long Farewell pull out the emotional connection between the couple! The last black and white photo was my favorite for that reason! Such joyful contentment captured! They just look like they were meant for each other!
