He’d waited two years, but Shawn couldn’t stand to wait another second before asking Cyndi to marry him. “We took a weekend trip to Hawaii’s Big Island,” Cyndi said. “He had big plans to propose to me on a moonlight walk on the beach that night, but he was too excited. He ended up proposing to me as soon as we got to our hotel room!”

Nikki and Benjamin love all things outdoors, said their engagement session photographer Courtney Bowlden—whether it’s hiking, biking or long boarding, the couple loves to play outside. For their engagement session, “we just walked around and drove to a local field,” Courtney said. Nikki sported her favorite red Toms, while Benjamin showed off his tattoos. “They have so much love and passion for each other, I really didn’t have to tell them what to do at all,” she said.

Danielle and Grant collected milk glass containers for Flowerthyme to fill with an assortment of pink, yellow and green blooms. “I knew I had to have vintage china and milk glass,” Danielle explained, “so the design went from there.” The couple also gathered a collection of vintage books, on which the centerpieces perched, and Danielle made burlap table runners. But their biggest do-it-yourself endeavor may have been their escort cards—a smattering of the couple’s favorite things pinned onto cardstock.
